Koechlin was conferred with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture for her contributions to cinema.
Born in Pondicherry, India, to French parents, Koechlin was drawn to theatre from a young age.
She co-wrote the play “Skeleton Woman” along with Prashant Prakash, which won her the Metro Plus Playwright Award in 2009.
She played the role of Natasha, a South Bombay girl who works as an interior designer.
Koechlin, who took diction classes for the role which required her to speak accented Hindi, revealed that she was keen to do the film because her work in such projects as Dev.
They were looking for actors for a theatrical festival, Contacting the World, to be held in Liverpool.
In the film, Koechlin plays the role of Leni, a young woman who turns to prostitution after a leaked sex tape scandal.
